Are You Rich?

Friday, November 27th, 2009

I think after yesterdays post, today I am going to do my first rant. Even though I am trying to become rich, I am not yet and do not forsee a short-term path to it. What I want to rant about is the constant barage of “NEW” Internet Marketing programs that all claim to be “THE” one that is going to put you over the top, and make you an “expert” or “guru” of this niche or that. It may be true for someone who uses whichever program is most enticing at that moment. But, here’s the thing…I am not yet rich!

In the course of persuing an MBA I had a classmate who spoke of his experience in the Plastics Industry where a high profit margin was enjoyed because they could literally set their prices as high as the market would bear.  An absolute businessmans dream, I mean we would all like to charge prices high enough to get large profits and quickly become rich right?

Well, it seems to me that this is exactly what many of the people producing these many latest greatest opportunities in Internet Marketing are doing. They say in their landing pages that they could easily charge $997 for this program, but they have “decided” not to, because they understand your plight particulairly if you are “just starting out.” They go on to extole the virtues of the program, “am I charging $497, no…$297, no…You can have it… “for a limited time for only $197!”

Hey!!! I am not rich yet!!!

Two hundred dollars is a lot of money to me, my monthly car payment is less than that! I saw a program recently that had a recurring monthly fee of $157!

Different people work in different ways; we all learn differently.  A program  that makes sense and fits you, may not be doable for me. If the only way to find ”the one” is to pay $200  over and over again it could takes years and thousands of dollars before I can “fire my boss”!

I think that if all those “gurus” really cared they would allow you to pay the program fee in multiple payments, after all they nearly always offer “money back guarantees”. What is the difference for them, save some small additional payment processing fees?

So, what is my takeaway from this rant? Temptation. Pure and simple. I have sunk my entire fortune (I maxed my credit cards), into promoting GVO and the New Rich Report, and success is not coming fast enough to make me feel successful. So when I see these other programs that seem to have great potential, the natural frustration of a businessman struggling to make it, and not wanting to miss the “next big thing”, rears its head and I want to give it a try just in case this is “the one”, until i see “only $197″. Then I am deflated. I no longer see salvation, and my frustration is only amplified.

I / we must then, learn to control our temptaion to jump ship; focus on making the program we are in work, don’t be blind, but neither be foolish. Success rarely happens quickly; so much of my frustration may be born of impatience, and of course the burning desire to “Fire My Boss”!
